Most filmmakers I meet have a burning desire to change our world through the films that they create. Whether their vision is for the silver screen or the next viral web video, they want to make God famous here on Earth.
Most of us have learned how to follow Jesus, and some of us have picked up a camera to start a project. Life gets busy, but we press on in hopes of telling a compelling story in whatever strength we have.
In our efforts to leave a mark, it’s easy to find ourselves in a place where we are creating without the Creator.
All the while we are asking God to bless what we are doing so we can make His name great. As a mentor of mine, Leif Hetland, has told me before, “You need to focus on doing what God is blessing instead of asking Him to bless what you are doing.”
The primary goal of this book isn’t that you become the best Christian filmmaker this world has seen – it’s that you first come into the knowledge of your identity as a son or daughter of the Most High, and secondly learn to co-labor with Jesus
You care called to be a child of God first, filmmaker second. Once you’ve stepped into the fullness of your identity and start creating with Jesus and not for Him, that’s when He will be ready to use you and your gifts to radically change the world through the films you create together.
